Cameron University is participating in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). Meals will be provided to all eligible children free of charge. To be eligible to receive free meals at a residential or non-residential camp, such as Cameron’s Upward Bound program, children must meet the income guidelines for reduced-price meals in the National School Lunch Program. Children who are part of households that receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, benefits under the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations, or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families are automatically eligible to receive free meals. Acceptance and participation requirements for the Summer Food Service Program and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.
Thanks to the Lawton Northeast On-Line Branch Lions Club, the grounds surrounding Aggie Gym are dotted in colorful pink and purple blossoms each spring, as the club has donated the Eastern Redbuds found around the building. Two new trees were added this year in continuance of the club’s Earth Day tradition, marking the 15th year of a tree donation to Cameron University.
The Cameron University Foundation will establish the Oty McArthur Endowed Lectureship for High Impact Student Experiences. The endowment is made possible by a $50,000 gift from Dr. Karla J. Oty, director of Institutional Research, Assessment and Accountability, and President John McArthur.
The Cameron University Department of Psychology honored five students with Student of the Year awards during its departmental student recognition ceremony.
The Cameron University Foundation has established the H. Glenn Williams Endowed Scholarship for Criminal Justice, honoring Cameron alumnus H. Glenn “Herky” Williams. The endowment was made possible by his wife, Dr. Anne Williams, and daughter, Katherine Williams.
The Cameron University English program honored its outstanding writers with receptions at CU’s main campus in Lawton as well as at Cameron University-Duncan. The events honor outstanding English composition English composition students from the current academic year (Summer 2023, Fall 2023, Spring 2024).
Cameron University’s Office of Student Housing and Residence Life recently honored students who serve as resident assistants (RAs), who play a vital role in serving the students who live on campus in either the Shepler Towers or Cameron Village.
“We are CU.” That’s the byline of the Cameron University Foundation’s second CU Giving Day, scheduled for Thursday, April 18. This 24-hour event serves as a rallying point for members of the Aggie community to show their support for Cameron University and its students.
Cameron University senior Kimberly Scalberg, an elementary education major from Elgin, has been named a DaVinci Scholar by The DaVinci Institute, a private partnership of leaders in higher education across Oklahoma. One of three DaVinci Scholars selected in the state, she will receive a monetary award from The DaVinci Institute in her first year of teaching in Oklahoma.
