Cameron University presents visual lecture and art exhibition by visiting artist Hattie Lee Mendoza

The Cameron University art program is pleased to present visiting artist Hattie Lee Mendoza, who will present “Cultivating and Presenting a Joy of Cultural Differences, Influences and Histories,” a visual lecture, on Thursday, March 28, in the McCutcheon Recital Hall at 6 p.m. Following the lecture, Mendoza will be celebrated with a closing reception at 7:30 p.m. in the Art Teaching Gallery, where “Inheriting Joy,” an exhibition of her work that is now on display. Both events are open to the public at no charge.

Award-winning trombonist, composer and educator Nick Finzer to headline Cameron University Jazz Festival

Award-winning trombonist, composer and educator Nick Finzer will headline the 2024 Cameron University Jazz Festival, slated for Tuesday, March 5, in the University Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Finzer will join the CU Jazz Ensemble and the Lawton Jazz Orchestra for an evening of original compositions as well as jazz standards. The concert will also feature the Aggie Jazz Academy, an ensemble composed of students from Cache High School, Eisenhower High School, Elgin High School and MacArthur High School as well as home-schooled students.

“Songs of Love, Life and Hope” concert to feature two Cameron University choral ensembles

Music lovers from throughout southwest Oklahoma will want to attend “Songs of Love, Life, and Hope,” a joint concert featuring the Cameron/Lawton Community Civic Chorus and the Cameron University Concert Choir. Presented in conjunction with the university’s current academic festival, “Care and Health: A Generational Approach,” the concert is scheduled for Sunday, March 3, at 3 p.m. in the University Theatre.
