Ginny Mac, one of today’s most vocal proponents of Western Swing, brings her distinctive sound to Cameron University’s Country Jazz Fusion on Tuesday, November 5, when she’ll join the CU Jazz Ensemble and the Lawton Jazz Orchestra for a night of country and jazz classics. Country Jazz Fusion will start at 7:30 p.m. in the University Theatre.
Cameron University's Chemistry Club, a student chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS), has been recognized by the organization with the ACS Student Communities Award and the Green Chemistry Student Chapter Award for the 2023-2024 academic year. The awards will be formally presented during the ACS National Meeting in San Diego, Calif., in March 2025.
Cameron University students can get one step closer to degree completion when enrollment begins for the Spring 2025 semester. Tiered enrollment by classification starts on Tuesday, October 22, for graduate students, seniors and honors students. Juniors can enroll on Wednesday, October 23; sophomores on Thursday, October 24; and freshmen on Friday, October 25. Open enrollment for all students begins on Monday, October 28.
The Cameron University Department of Social Sciences will present “The Secret World of Human Trafficking and Smuggling,” a presentation by Crystal Kenyon, Southwest Oklahoma Search and Rescue. The presentation, set for Tuesday, October 22, at 2 p.m. in the Shepler Center Ballroom, is open to the public.
Aficionados of classical music can look forward to “An Evening with the Classics” presented by Cameron University’s Lawton Community Orchestra. The ensemble will perform music by some of classical music’s most heralded composers. The concert is slated for Tuesday, October 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the McCutcheon Recital Hall.
Cameron University will celebrate the midpoint of the Fall 2024 semester with Fall Break on Thursday, Oct. 17 and Friday, Oct. 18. There will be no classes held during this time, and administrative offices will be closed. Classes will resume and administrative offices will re-open for normal business hours on Monday, Oct. 21.
Cameron University is pleased to congratulate the students who completed graduation requirements at the end of the Summer 2024 semester. Fall graduates are eligible to participate in graduation ceremonies at the end of the spring semester. The 2025 Commencement is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 9, at Cameron Stadium.
Cameron University’s Department of Chemistry, Physics and Engineering will host middle-school girls from Lawton Public Schools for Girls in STEM Day, a half-day event aimed at inspiring and empowering participants to pursue a career in one of the STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). The event takes place on Friday, October 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room 100 of the Sciences Complex.
Cameron University music students will be joined by community members for a concert featuring the CU Concert Band and the Cameron/Lawton Community Band, both under the direction of Dr. Andrey Cruz. The concert is set for Sunday, October 13, in the University Theatre at 4 p.m.
