Accessibility Training
@ MCC Ballroom
Federal regulations of accessibility laws will tighten significantly on April 24. These standards (Federal ADA law WCAG 2.1, Level AA) specify that all digital content from state and local government - which includes colleges and universities ... and that also includes their student organizations and school foundations - must be ADA accessibility compliant. This extends to email and social media content.
Cameron University has arranged for a representative of Oklahoma ABLE Tech to come to campus to present a workshop on accessibility training so that we will be in compliance when the deadline arrives. If you handle your department's or organization's social media - or any kind of digital content that carries the Cameron University name - or if you are responsible for directing the person that does so, attendance at the workshop is extremely important and strongly recommended. Sessions are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. & 1:30 p.m. Content from the morning session will be repeated at the afternoon session, so it is only necessary to attend one of the sessions. How important is it for you to attend this training? The Office of Public Affairs is responsible for maintaining the university’s accessibility compliance. Not only do we create ADA-compliant content for departments, we monitor what appears on social media channels and in emails. In that role, on a daily basis we see posts from Cameron-affiliated pages that are not ADA accessibility compliant and typically include graphics that the departments and offices created on their own. This tells us that training is definitely needed and is relevant. Seating is limited so please register for the training with the below link. If you are responsible for the content of your office, department, school, or club at Cameron University, please register for this workshop.

The CU Department of Art, Music and Theatre Arts will host music scholarship auditions for Fall 2026 - Spring 2027 on Saturday, February 28, in the Music Building. Once you register for your audition, you will be assigned a time. High school seniors, current CU students and transfer students are eligible to audition. Auditions accepted are vocalists, instrumentalists, pianists and string students. You do not have to be a major! Please audition with two pieces of contrasting styles. If you do not have two pieces ready to play, play the piece that shows your best skills. You will be performing for CU music faculty in a supportive, encouraging environment. The faculty will talk with you after the audition. Use the link below to schedule your audition.
If you can't attend the in-person auditions, you may submit a video audition through the registration form. Record yourself singing or playing your audition pieces on video. Audio-only recordings will not be considered. Ensure that your face, posture and instrument (if applicable) are clearly visible. This allows the faculty to evaluate you with the same care and attention given to in-person auditions. If you have questions, the following can assist you: For chair/strings contact kirstenu@cameron.edu, for band contact cmiessle@cameron.edu, for jazz contact jlittle@cameron.edu, for piano contact hyunsoon@cameron.edu and for voice contact cmorren@cameron.edu.
