The CU Department or Art, Music & Theatre Arts presents the 2026 Fine Arts Summer Art Institute, for youth ages 13-18. There will be 2 sessions. Session 1 will be on the following Thursdays: June 4, 11, 18 & 25 from 9 a.m.-Noon. This session will cover drawing & portfolio development. Students will participate in a variety of drawing assignments under the direction of professional artists. These workshops are specifically designed to increase students perceptual observation skills through various drawing techniques with traditional media including graphite, charcoal, and conte. Areas of artistic development will include drawing, traditional subject matter (still life and figure), interaction of drawing and design, and abstraction and thematic variations. Session 2 will be on the following Thursdays: July 2, 9, 16 & 23 from 9 a.m.-Noon. This session will cover digital art. Students will be introduced to several graphics software programs include Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. They will use the Wacom drawing tablets for production of computer-generated imagery. The CU Department or Art, Music & Theatre Arts presents the 2026 Fine Arts Summer Art Institute, for youth ages 13-18. There will be 2 sessions. Session 1 will be on the following Thursdays: June 4, 11, 18 & 25 from 9 a.m.-Noon. This session will cover drawing & portfolio development. Students will participate in a variety of drawing assignments under the direction of professional artists. These workshops are specifically designed to increase students perceptual observation skills through various drawing techniques with traditional media including graphite, charcoal, and conte. Areas of artistic development will include drawing, traditional subject matter (still life and figure), interaction of drawing and design, and abstraction and thematic variations. Session 2 will be on the following Thursdays: July 2, 9, 16 & 23 from 9 a.m.-Noon. This session will cover digital art. Students will be introduced to several graphics software programs include Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. They will use the Wacom drawing tablets for production of computer-generated imagery. Fine Arts Summer Art Institute

The CU Department or Art, Music & Theatre Arts presents the 2026 Fine Arts Summer Art Institute, for youth ages 13-18. There will be 2 sessions. Session 1 will be on the following Thursdays: June 4, 11, 18 & 25 from 9 a.m.-Noon. This session will cover drawing & portfolio development. Students will participate in a variety of drawing assignments under the direction of professional artists. These workshops are specifically designed to increase students perceptual observation skills through various drawing techniques with traditional media including graphite, charcoal, and conte. Areas of artistic development will include drawing, traditional subject matter (still life and figure), interaction of drawing and design, and abstraction and thematic variations. Session 2 will be on the following Thursdays: July 2, 9, 16 & 23 from 9 a.m.-Noon. This session will cover digital art. Students will be introduced to several graphics software programs include Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. They will use the Wacom drawing tablets for production of computer-generated imagery. The Magic Lantern Film Society will screen, "Fences" at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 26, in Room 114 of the Communication Building. Directed by Denzel Washington; Stars Denzel Washington, Viola Davis and Stephen McKinley Henderson. A working-class African American father, a former baseball player, attempts to raise his family in the 1950s. This is based upon a Pulitzer Prize winning play by August Wilson. The Magic Lantern Film Society will screen, "Black Orpheus" at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 26, in Room 114 of the Communication Building. Directed by Marcel Camus; Stars Bruno Mello, Marpessa Dawn and Lourdes de Oliveira. Orfeo, a tram conductor, falls in love with Eurydice, a young woman from the country, and sets out to find her when she disappears during Carnival in Rio de Janeiro. This is in Portuguese with English subtitles. Directed by Fred Zinnemann; Stars Edward Fox, Terence Alexander and Michael Auclair. Following the independence of Algiers in 1962, resentful French veterans hire an assassin to kill President Charles de Gaulle. This is adapted from a novel but based upon an historical event.
