Cameron University has announced the appointment of new chairs in three departments for the academic year 2024-2025. The appointments were approved earlier today by the University of Oklahoma, Cameron University and Rogers State University Board of Regents.
In an effort to help parents who have homeschooled high school students prepare for college, Cameron University-Duncan will present “Navigating the High School Years.” The free, informational session is set for Thursday, July 18, from 6 to 7 p.m. at CU-Duncan. Interested parents and students from southwest Oklahoma are welcome to attend either virtually or in person.
Dr. Susmita Hazra, associate professor in the Department of Chemistry, Physics and Engineering at Cameron University, has been honored by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education’s Council for Online Learning Excellence (COLE) with the Oklahoma Online Excellence Award for Teaching.
Cameron University has announced the President’s and Dean’s honor lists for the Spring 2024 semester. To make the President’s Honor Roll, undergraduate students must be enrolled full-time (carrying at least 12 hours of classes) and maintain a straight A average (4.0). The Dean’s Honor Roll requires a B average (3.00-3.99).

Dr. Christian Morren, associate professor of music and director of voice, has been honored with the 2024 Clifton Ware Group-Voice Pedagogy Encouragement Award. The honor was presented by the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).
Elementary and middle school students entering grades 2 through 7 will learn tips and concepts that can have a positive impact on their lives during CU Money Smart, a three-day camp focusing on financial literacy. The camp will provide engaging activities that will introduce campers to concepts such as budgeting for the family, saving and investing money and thinking like an entrepreneur. Students will be placed in three groups based on school grade.
CU-Duncan will host the third annual Soaring Aggies Summer Camp, a fun-filled experience for students who are entering 7th grade this fall. Campers will learn about things that fly, glide and soar from Monday, June 17, through Friday, June 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Cameron University’s governing board today announced the tentative appointment of Jari Askins as interim president of the institution, pending formal approval by the board at its June meeting. Her first day on the job would be July 22.
