Cameron University’s Department of Art, Music, and Theatre Arts will continue its 2020-21 theatre season, celebrating “Festival XI: Connections: Information Transfer Between People,” with Jeff Goode’s “The Eight: The Reindeer Monologues.” This dark comedy will be presented in the University Theatre from November 19 to 22 The curtain goes up on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for senior citizens, military, Cameron faculty and staff, and non-Cameron students. CU students receive Free admission with their CU I.D. Due to COVID-19 protocols, seating is limited and tickets must be reserved in advance. The Cameron University Department of Social Sciences will present “Human Trafficking 101: Community Education and Prevention of Human Trafficking,” featuring Ahsha Morin, president of The Red Cord, Monday, November 16, at 2 p.m. the McCasland Ballroom. The event is open to the public at no cost. Due to COVID-19 protocols, seating is limited. Social distancing will be enforced, and facial coverings are required.
Cameron University has been allocated $20,000 by the Oklahoma IDeA Network for Biomedical Research Excellence (OK-INBRE) to support faculty-mentored undergraduate research in biomedical sciences. CU faculty members may apply for funding up to $2,500 per project. The funds must be used to support one or more undergraduate students engaged in mentored research under the direction of the faculty member, with the majority of the award being utilized to support student salaries.
The Cameron University Art Teaching Gallery will present “Observations from Isolation,” an art exhibit inspired by COVID-19 created Elizabeth Yarosz-Ash. The exhibit will open on Thursday, November 12, with a reception and artist talk at 6 p.m. The event is open to the public at no charge. The Art Teaching Gallery is located in the Art Building on the east side of the Cameron campus. A maximum of 10 patrons at a time will be allowed into the gallery and hallway exhibition space. Facial coverings are required.
Cameron University will honor active duty and retired members of the U.S. Armed Forces during a series of events on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11.
In conjunction with the national observance of Veterans Day, Cameron University’s Office of Veterans Affairs is excited to partner with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to host a virtual Resource Fair. The two-day event will connect veterans and their family members with representatives from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for individualized virtual chats offering information about various services. The CU Veterans Resource Fair will be held, November 4 and 5, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Shepler Center Ballroom. Facial coverings are required.
Cameron University will host its first Virtual Pickaxe Preview, an informational and entertaining session aimed at high school students as they ponder their college options. In previous years, Pickaxe Preview was offered as in-person gathering.
