Cameron University is inviting employers to participate in the 23rd annual Red River Career Expo, scheduled for Thursday, February 20, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Aggie Rec Center. The event will provide participating companies with the opportunity to recruit new employees, as CU students, community members, military families and more will be on-site to meet with national, regional and local employers. Cameron University will showcase the work of senior art major Luena Comas with a special exhibition in the Sciences Complex. A painter, Comas will present a gallery talk at 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, to introduce the exhibition.
Cameron University’s Department of Art, Music, and Theatre Arts will open its 2020-21 theatre season, celebrating “Festival XI: Connections: Information Transfer Between People,” with Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451.” The melodrama will be presented in the University Theatre from October 1-4. The curtain goes up on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for senior citizens, military, Cameron faculty and staff, and non-Cameron students. CU students receive one free admission with their CU I.D. Due to COVID-19 protocols, seating is limited and tickets must be reserved in advance. Cameron University’s 2020 Commencement is set for Saturday, October 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Cameron Stadium. Students who completed coursework in December 2019, May or July 2020, or will complete in December 2020 are eligible to participate in Commencement. Those planning to participate in the ceremony must register at www.cameron.edu/commencement/register-for-commencement. COVID-19 protocols will be in effect for the ceremony.
Cameron University has announced the President’s and Dean’s honor rolls for the Summer 2020 semester. To make the President’s Honor Roll, undergraduate students must be enrolled full-time (carrying at least six hours of classes) and maintain a straight-A (4.0) average. The Dean’s Honor Roll requires a B (3.00-3.99) average.

The Cameron University School of Graduate and Professional Studies can help, thanks to a virtual informational session that will focus on CU’s upcoming Special Education Boot Camp. Cameron University will kick off its 11th Academic Festival, “Connections: Information Transfer Between People,” with a presentation by mental health advocate Frank Warren. The event, which is free and open to the public, takes place on Tuesday, September 22, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are required for admission and can be reserved online at http://www.cameron.edu/festivalxi. The deadline to order tickets is Friday, September 11. Tickets will be distributed by mail or can be picked up in advance from the Office of Public Affairs, Administration Building, Room 150 beginning on Monday, September 14. Cameron University alumna Brigit Minden has been named as one of the recipients of the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST), the nation’s highest recognition of K-12 math and science teachers. The honor was announced by President Donald J. Trump earlier this week. Minden graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and a minor in psychology. She teaches mathematics at Central High School, where she was the district’s Teacher of the Year in 2016.
Cameron University has selected “Connections: Information Transfer Between People” as the theme for its 11th academic festival, a dynamic, privately funded, year-long symposium that explores a topic worthy of in-depth study. Through a series of presentations by nationally recognized speakers, Cameron will consider three distinct aspects of the festival theme: social interactions, workplace and medicine.
