Pickaxe Preview will showcase Cameron University to prospective students

Pickaxe Preview, an informational event for prospective Cameron University students, will provide high school students and their parents with a jam-packed look at the admissions process, campus life, financial assistance, degree programs and what it means to be a Cameron Aggie in one setting. The multi-faceted event is set for Friday, November 12, from 1 to 5 p.m. To register for Pickaxe Preview, visit https://www.cameron.edu/admissions/pickaxe.

“Cameron University’s Pickaxe Preview is a must for anyone who is interested in obtaining a college degree,” says Brenda Dally, Director of Admissions. “The event will provide comprehensive information about Cameron. We believe that Cameron is somewhat of a hidden gem – our degree programs are outstanding, our class sizes are small, and our faculty and staff are committed to helping every student complete a college degree. I encourage anyone who is curious about college to attend Pickaxe Preview to see first-hand what Cameron has to offer.”

Pickaxe Preview starts with on-site check-in from 1 to 2 p.m. in the University Theatre, where Cameron President John McArthur will welcome guests at 2 p.m.

Attendees will then break into smaller groups for a quick tour of campus, with stops at the McMahon Living Center to learn about student housing; Ross Hall, where they will learn about how to be admitted to CU; and the Sciences Complex, where information about financial assistance will be provided.

Following those stops, attendees will assemble in the Aggie Rec Center, where they can explore different degree programs with representatives from Cameron’s academic units. CU offers almost 50 distinct degree programs, many of which offer different concentrations within an academic field.

Pickaxe Preview guests will learn about Cameron’s various student organizations, which provide opportunities for students to be actively engaged in campus and community activities.

“If you’re looking for a high-quality education at an affordable price, look no further than Cameron University,” says Dally. “Cameron’s tuition and fees are the most affordable among Oklahoma’s public, four-year institutions of higher learning, and we are dedicated to helping every Cameron student achieve a college degree.”
