Academic chairs appointed at Cameron University


Two Cameron University faculty members have been appointed as departmental chairs, while the responsibilities of a current departmental chair have been expanded to include another academic unit. Dr. Shaun Calix, Associate Professor of Psychology, has been appointed Chair of the Department of Psychology, and Dr. Mike Husak, Professor of Biology, has been named Chair of the Department of Agriculture, Biology and Health Sciences. Dr. Stephanie Boss, Assistant Professor and Chair of the Department of Sports and Exercise Science, will also serve as Interim Chair of the Department of Education.


Tuition and fees at Cameron University to remain unchanged in new budget


Cameron University students continue as the primary focus of the university as today the university’s governing board was presented with a 2020-2021 budget that maintains tuition and fees at current rates. In addition to holding tuition and fees at current rates for the third consecutive year, the proposed $43,365,886 operating budget earmarks almost $34 million for student instruction, academic support, student scholarships and tuition waivers, and student services during the upcoming academic year. Cameron’s tuition and mandatory fees structure is also subject to approval by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.


Cameron University inducts 12 new members into Delta Mu Delta


Cameron University’s Iota Sigma chapter of the Delta Mu Delta (DMD) International Honor Society in Business recently inducted 12 new members via a virtual induction ceremony. Delta Mu Delta recognizes and encourages academic excellence to create a community that fosters the well-being of its individual members and the business community through lifetime membership. Dr. Greg Treadwell and Dr. Aubree Walton serve as faculty advisors to the chapter.


Cameron University announces Spring 2020 honor rolls


Cameron University has announced the President’s and Dean’s honor lists for the Spring 2020 semester. To make the President’s Honor Roll, undergraduate students must be enrolled full-time (carrying at least 12 hours of classes) and maintain a straight A average (4.0). The Dean’s Honor Roll requires a B average (3.00-3.99).


Cameron University adds to degree programs approved for online delivery


Cameron University has received approval from its governing board, the Board of Regents for the University of Oklahoma, Cameron University and Rogers State University, as well as the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, to offer seven more existing degree programs via electronic delivery in addition to their current face-to-face and/or hybrid delivery methods. The degree programs approved for electronic delivery are the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Sports and Exercise Science, the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Criminal Justice, the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Criminal Justice, the Associate in Science (AS) in Business, the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Business Administration, the Master of Education (MEd) in Reading, and the Master of Science (MS) in Behavioral Sciences (general psychology track).


Cameron University students elected to membership in Gamma Sigma Epsilon


Nine Cameron University students have been elected to membership in Gamma Sigma Epsilon, a national honor society in chemistry. Gamma Sigma Epsilon’s mission is to promote the pursuit of knowledge and truth, both as ends in themselves and to aid in the uplifting of the human condition; the respect for all things living and non-living, reacting and non-reacting; and the promotion of scientific research, particularly in the field of chemistry.
