MOVE-IN Guide
Fall 2025
Welcome to your new home at Cameron University!
We're excited to welcome you to campus. Please review the following information carefully to ensure a smooth and stress-free Move-In experience.
Move-in Dates:
Early Arrival (August 8–15, 2025)
Students who need to arrive before their scheduled date must complete the Early Arrival Request Form (link coming soon).
Please note that early arrivals are subject to housing contract terms, as outlined by Student Housing and Residence Life.
If you need to move in early for a university-related reason—such as athletics, employment, or orientation—you must request a Contract Extension. If approved in writing by Student Housing and Residence Life, a $25 nightly fee will apply.
Arriving early without approval will result in an unauthorized occupancy fee of $50 per night.
Eligible reasons to request early arrival include:
- Fall sports
- Housing insecurity
- Fall student employment
- PLUS participation
- Orientation
International & New Student Move-In
Wednesday, August 13, 2025
Check-in Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Note: Early arrivals must receive prior approval from Student Housing & Residence Life.
Returning Student Move-In
Saturday, August 16 – Sunday, August 17, 2025
Check-in Location: Housing Office, McMahon Learning Center (MLC)
Check-in Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. (both days)
Check Your Cameron Email. You will receive your assigned Move-In date and time via your Cameron University email. Be sure to check it regularly for updates.
Check-In Location:
All check-ins will be at the Office of Student Housing and Residence Life in the McMahon Learning Center (MLC), located in Cameron Village. Please enter through the front doors.
Important Reminders:
- Arrive at your assigned time – rescheduling is not available.
- Bring your Campus ID to check in.
- If you don’t have a CU ID yet, visit Student Accounts before Move-In Day.
New Resident/International Student Move-In Process Overview:
Cameron University SHRL has partnered with University and Student Services staff to provide a full-service Move-In experience. Volunteers will unload your vehicle and deliver items directly to your room.
Students are allowed:
- Up to 2 passenger vehicles.
- 1 trip through the Move-In process.
- No U-Hauls, trailers, or large moving trucks/vans during main Move-In hours (unless unloading after 5:30 p.m.)
- Health and safety remain a top priority. We’re committed to creating a welcoming environment for all students.
New Resident and International Student Aggie Move-In Day Steps:
Step 1: Arrival & Entry
- Begin at Aggie Gym, across from CCMH Hospital.
- From Gore Boulevard, turn onto Cameron Way—you’ll see the first check-in point.
- Follow traffic signs and staff directions throughout the route.
Step 2: Timing
- Early arrivals must wait until their scheduled time.
- Late arrivals may miss assistance and experience delays.
Step 3: Check-In
- McMahon Learning Center, 502 SW University Dr., Lawton, OK 73505
- Present your Campus ID
- Receive your room key and vehicle hang tags
Step 4: Unloading
- Drive to your assigned unloading area (Shepler Towers or Cameron Village)
- The student must be in the first vehicle of the caravan
- Drivers must stay in the vehicle during unloading
- USS staff will unload and deliver your items
- Once unloaded, vehicles must move to designated parking
Step 5: Vehicle Guidelines
- No U-Hauls, trailers, or box trucks during regular Move-in hours
- These vehicles may unload after 5:30 p.m. only
Step 6: Controlled Traffic
- University staff will guide traffic throughout the process
Step 7: Stay Together
- Vehicles in a group must stay together until unloading is complete
- Label all belongings clearly with your name and room number, if applicable
Step 8: One-Time Entry
- Only one pass through the Move-in route per student
- Pack everything you need before arriving
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can I arrive early to beat the rush?
A: No. Early arrivals disrupt the process and increase wait times. Please arrive only at your assigned time.
Are restrooms available during check-in?
A: Yes. Restrooms are available at the McMahon Learning Center (MLC). Access may be limited once you enter the vehicle line, so plan ahead.
What happens after I check in and move into my room?
A: Join us for the Welcome to Campus Dinner at 6:00 p.m. Your full Move-In Day schedule, provided at check-in, will include locations and event details.
Can someone else get my key?
A: No. You must pick up your own key. Parents, friends, or relatives cannot check in for you.
Can parents/family attend Residential Orientation?
A: Yes! Parents are welcome to attend Residential Orientation and parent-specific workshops designed to support your transition.
New Residents and International Students: Why can’t I just go straight to the MLC?
A: Due to road closures and traffic control, all new and international students must enter through the designated route starting at Aggie Gym.
What is a new resident or international student?
A: A new resident is a student who has never lived in university housing. International students are students who do not live in the United States. Whether they are new or returning, they move in on August 13.
What is a returning resident?
A: A returning resident is a student who has previously lived in university housing.
Returning Move-In Day Process:
- Park in either the MLC parking lot, the gravel lot, or the Shepler parking lot when unloading or to check-in.
- You have 20 minutes to unload your vehicle.
- Any cars left unattended or not parked in a designated space are subject to tickets or fines in accordance with university parking guidelines.
- You must bring a valid form of ID (student ID, passport, or other photo ID) to check in.
- Due to limited access cards, the department will NOT issue temporary access cards to enter the building.
- Returning students can check in at the Student Information Desk in the MLC.
- Enter through the front doors and turn left at Room 100.
