There’s good news for Cameron University students as they prepare for the 2025-2026 academic year, as the university has announced that it will keep tuition and mandatory fees, as well as rates for student housing, unchanged.
The Cameron University Alumni Association (CUAA) is accepting nominations for its 2026 alumni and faculty awards, which recognize individuals whose accomplishments honor the legacy of Cameron University. Since 1979, the CUAA has recognized more than 200 individuals with honors such as the Distinguished Alumni Award, Outstanding Young Alumni Award, and Faculty Hall of Fame Award.
Cameron University is pleased to announce changes in leadership within the Office of Academic Affairs, effective July 1.
Community members from throughout southwest Oklahoma are invited to meet Dr. C. Shane Hunt, Cameron University’s new president, during receptions at either the Lawton and Duncan campuses. President Hunt will greet guests in Lawton on Wednesday, July 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the McCasland Foundation Ballroom of the McMahon Centennial Complex, located on the east side of campus. Parking is available at the intersection of S.W. University Drive and S.W. D Avenue.
When Albert Johnson Jr. stepped into his role as Cameron University’s Vice President for University Advancement in November 2007, he was motivated in part by his commitment to giving back to the university that prepared him for a 28-year career in the U.S. Army. Almost 18 years later, Johnson is retiring from the university in early July. During his tenure, Johnson has served as a member of the university president’s cabinet with primary responsibilities focused on private fundraising, alumni relations and community engagement. In addition, he has been responsible for leadership, management and direction of the Cameron University Foundation.
Cameron University has announced the President’s and Dean’s honor lists for the Spring 2025 semester. To make the President’s Honor Roll, undergraduate students must be enrolled full-time (carrying at least 12 hours of classes) and maintain a straight A average (4.0). The Dean’s Honor Roll requires a B average (3.00-3.99).
Cameron University’s Dr. Krystal Brue was honored recently with the Lumineer Award by the Oklahoma Human Resources State Council (SHRM-OK), an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management. The award celebrates human resource professionals with a legacy of excellence and service and is presented to individuals who have at least five years of dedicated contributions to the HR profession. Honorees are recognized for being a go-to resource and mentor in HR, offering guidance and solutions to HR challenges, acting as a connector and network builder within the profession and exemplifying a commitment to lifting others and advancing HR.
Cameron University’s Dr. Hyunsoon Whang has been honored with the Distinguished Teacher of the Year Award by the Oklahoma Music Teachers Association, becoming only the 15th recipient of the prestigious award since it was launched in 2001. The award recognizes a teacher who has made a significant difference in the lives of students, has contributed to the advancement of music in their community and is an outstanding example of a professional music educator. Whang will now be entered for consideration as the Music Teachers National Association’s Teacher of the Year Award.
Cameron University’s Testing Center has been recertified by the National College Testing Association (NCTA). Criteria for recertification are rigorous and are based on the NCTA Professional Standards and Guidelines, which were developed to guide post-secondary test centers in the delivery of quality testing programs. The facility was originally certified in 2014 and earned recertification in 2019.
