The Cameron University Department of Chemistry, Physics and Engineering is now accepting applications for the Aerospace Engineering and Applied Mathematics Summer Academy for middle school girls. The camp takes place June 7-11 and will host middle school girls from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. There is no cost to attend. Cameron University has announced that Scott Schneider will become its next Vice President for Business and Finance on June 1. The hiring was approved today by the Board of Regents for the University of Oklahoma, Cameron University and Rogers State University.
The Cameron University Department of Communication, English and Foreign Languages welcomed six new members to the Beta Omicron chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honor society.
Cameron University faculty members Dr. Ioannis K. Argyros, Dr. Shaun Calix, Dr. Danyelle Lee, Dr. Michelle Smith, Dr. Jan Thomas, and Dr. Aubree Walton have been honored with awards recognizing their contributions to Cameron’s academic community.
Three Cameron employees were honored as recipients of the university’s Staff Awards for Excellence. Dr. Leslie Cothren, Kelly McClure and Renee Roach are the recipients. Nominations were made by CU students, faculty and staff. In order to be eligible, nominees must have been employed full-time at Cameron for at least one year.
Both campuses of Cameron University have once again been designated as a Certified Healthy Campus ―the Lawton campus for the 10th consecutive year and CU-Duncan for the seventh year in a row. Both designations are at the “excellence” level, the highest level in the program. The designation is awarded by the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) in conjunction with the Oklahoma Academy, The State Chamber of Oklahoma, and the Oklahoma Turning Point Council.
Forty-four Cameron University students have met the rigorous requirements to join Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and largest all-discipline honor society. Membership is by invitation only to the top 10 percent of seniors and graduate students and the top 7.5 percent of juniors.
The Cameron University Department of Business is partnering with the Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce to present the 2021 Summer Learning Series, which will feature three virtual presentations that are designed to benefit business owners. The presentations are offered at no cost. Each will be offered from noon to 1 p.m.
