The Cameron University Department of Art, Music, and Theatre Arts will continue its 2021-2022 Spirited Season with “Jake’s Women,” a comedy by Neil Simon. The production will be presented in the University Theatre from Thursday, November 18, through Sunday, November 21. The curtain goes up on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $13 for adults and $10 for senior citizens, military, Cameron faculty and staff, and non-Cameron students. Cameron University’s Bill W. Burgess Jr. Business Research Center (BBRC) and the Lawton-Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce will host a business forum examining how supply chain issues are impacting the local economy. The event is slated from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 18, and will take place in the Mary Lou and W. Carey Johnson Auditorium in Ross Hall.
Keith Mitchell, senior director of public affairs at Cameron University, is the recipient of the Natalea Watkins Communicator of the Year Award for 2021. The award was presented Oct. 27 at the annual fall conference of the Oklahoma College Public Relations Association (OCPRA).
If you’re considering a degree from Cameron University’s Department of Computing and Technology but aren’t sure of the differences between the department’s two undergraduate degree programs – Computer Science and Information Technology -- the upcoming CU in Computing event has the answers. The free, virtual informational presentation will feature specifics about each degree program, including courses, options and undergraduate research opportunities. Career options will also be covered. CU in Computing will take place on Monday, November 22, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The Cameron University Concert Choir and the Eisenhower High School choir will present a holiday-themed program on Tuesday, November 16, at 7:30 p.m. The festive event will be held at the First Presbyterian Church located at 1302 S.W. A Avenue in Lawton. Admission is free.
When Cameron University’s Dr. Lucas Kaspar takes the stage on Saturday, November 13, music lovers can look forward to a slate of entertaining and buoyant music emanating from the trombone, widely considered to be the most versatile of musical instruments. The recital will take place in the McCutcheon Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $8 for senior citizens, K-12 students and members of the military. Certified teachers who are interested in earning additional qualification to become a reading specialist are encouraged to attend “CU Become a Reading Specialist,” a virtual workshop slated for Monday, November 1, at 5:30 p.m. on Zoom. This free, specialized information session, presented by the Cameron University Department of Education, will cover the admission standards and curriculum for earning a Masters of Education in Reading.
