Bill W. Burgess Jr. Business Research Center to discuss child and adolescent mental health


In conjunction with Cameron University‘s current academic festival, “Care and Health: A Generational Approach,” the Bill W. Burgess Jr. Business Research Center (BBRC) will present “Addressing the Mental Health Needs of Children and Adolescents.” Robyn Cowperthwaite, M.D., a psychiatrist specializing in child adolescent mental health and an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, will address “The Adolescent Mental Health Crisis and the Student Knowledge Gap.” The forum will take place on Thursday, November 16, at 4 p.m. in the Mary Lou and W. Carey Johnson Auditorium, Room 111 in Ross Hall.


CU Be a Therapist to share information about becoming a mental health professional


Interested in entering the challenging yet rewarding field of mental health? Cameron University’s CU Be a Therapist, a virtual information session, will present information on how a Master of Arts in Mental Health degree can lead to licensure as a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist (LMFT) or a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) on Thursday, November 16, from 5 to 7 p.m.



Steve Story to headline Country/Jazz Fusion concert


Multi-instrumentalist, educator and producer Steve Story will join the Lawton Jazz Orchestra and the CU Jazz Ensemble for a night of country and jazz classics. Cameron University’s annual Country Jazz Fusion concert takes place on Tuesday, November 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the University Theatre.


Cameron University recognizes students during Scholars Convocation Week


Cameron University is pleased to recognize students who have received merit scholarships as part of Scholars Convocation Week, a celebration of academic excellence.

During the week of October 30, Cameron will celebrate the academic achievements of its students with a weeklong observance which recognizes which celebrates the research, scholarly and creative activities of CU students, faculty and staff.


Cameron University congratulations Summer 2023 graduates


Cameron University is pleased to congratulate the students who completed graduation requirements at the end of the Summer 2023 semester. Fall graduates are eligible to participate in graduation ceremonies at the end of the spring semester. The 2024 Commencement is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 3, at Cameron Stadium.


Cameron University’s Vet Fest to celebrate all things military


Cameron University will celebrate all things military during Vet Fest, a two-day event hosted by the Office of Veterans Affairs. Community members, including veterans, military service members and dependents, are invited to a variety of events scheduled for Monday, November 6, and Tuesday, November 7, at the McMahon Centennial Complex.


Cameron University places Narcan vending machine on Lawton campus


In partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS), Cameron University has placed a Narcan vending machine at its Lawton campus. CU is the first university in Oklahoma to offer this resource, which contains Naloxone and Fentanyl test strip kits that are available to any individual at no charge. The equipment is located on the south side of the McMahon Centennial Complex.
