Individuals from all walks of life who want to enter the teaching profession are encouraged to attend “CU Become a Teacher,” a virtual workshop that will present the multiple pathways to becoming a certified teacher. The Zoom presentation will take place on Monday, October 30, at 5 p.m. and will offer information to those who have a college degree, those who have earned college credit but have yet to earn a degree, and those who have yet to earn college credit.
The Cameron University Civic Symphony will perform as a small chamber ensemble in the McCutcheon Recital Hall on Tuesday, October 10, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for senior citizens, military members and non-CU students. Cameron University’s Visiting Writer’s Series kicks off on Friday, October 20, with novelist Rilla Askew and author/poet Paul Austin. The writers will read samples of their work starting at 7 p.m. in the McCasland Ballroom of the McMahon Centennial Complex.
Cameron University will celebrate the midpoint of the Fall 2023 semester with Fall Break on Thursday, Oct. 12 and Friday, Oct. 13. There will be no classes held during this time, and administrative offices will be closed. Classes will resume and administrative offices will re-open for normal business hours on Monday, Oct. 16.
Open enrollment for the Spring 2024 semester at Cameron University starts on Tuesday, October 24, allowing students to continue earning credits toward a degree in their chosen academic program.

The Cameron University Concert Choir will present “Songs From Around the World,” on Thursday, October 19, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will take place at First Presbyterian Church, located at1302 SW A Avenue. Admission is free, although donations to the CU Music Scholarship fund are appreciated.
Cameron University has joined the Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP), a recruitment and referral program managed by the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Defense. The program connects federal and private-sector employers nationwide with highly motivated college students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to demonstrate their abilities in the workplace through summer or permanent jobs.
The Cameron University Concert Band and the Cameron/Lawton Community Band will unite to present “Unsung Heroes.” The concert takes place on Sunday, October 8, at 3 p.m. in the University Theatre.
