“Identity,” Cameron University’s senior art show, to open April 1 at Leslie Powell Gallery




The Cameron University Department of Art, Music and Theatre Arts will present the 2023 senior art exhibition, “Identity,” at the Leslie Powell Gallery, 620 S.W. D Avenue. An opening reception is planned for Saturday, April 1, at 6 p.m. and is open to the public at no charge. Artwork on display for the exhibition, which will run through April 30, will be available for purchase.

The presenting artists are Emilee Basham, Reneé Pufall and De’Mari Potter, Lawton; Alyssa Beth Cox and Alli Rose, Marlow; and Nikki Reid and Monica Monsanto, Duncan.

The title “Identity” comes from the variety of styles that the artists embody. Each artist presents personal narratives inspired by his or her background and takes inspiration from a wide array of artistic movements, both contemporary and historical. Each student focuses on a different aspect of human identity.

The artwork displayed in this exhibition features a variety of disciplines to include painting, sculpture, printmaking and graphic design. Artistic concepts include spiritual to controversial themes, pieces that deal with the nostalgic and psychological as well as exploration of street art, contemporary styles and narratives.
