“Emergence,” Cameron University’s senior art show, to open April 2 at Leslie Powell Gallery




The Cameron University Department of Art, Music and Theatre Arts will present a 2022 senior art exhibition, “Emergence,” at the Leslie Powell Gallery, 620 S.W. D Avenue. An opening reception is planned for Saturday, April 2, at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public at no charge. Artwork on display for the exhibition, which will run through April 30, will be available for purchase.

Artists presenting works in the exhibition are Vincent Wolfe, Anadarko; Casey Murphy, Cache; Michele Pierce, Chattanooga; John Ausdemore, Cory Livingston, Jarrett Belflower, Kourtney Rice, Lean Tate, all of Lawton; and Elizabeth McMains, Marlow.

The artists chose the theme “Emergence,” which is the process of coming into being or becoming important or prominent. As graduation approaches, they are coming into their full potential as artists and college graduates. Completing college degrees is the beginning of their artistic careers however the drive for creativity is deeply rooted.

The artwork displayed in this exhibition features a wide array of subjects and media. The work consists of portraits, figurative narratives, illustrations, graphic designs, abstract works, among others. The media represented includes oil, watercolor, linocut and etching prints, sculpture, charcoal and mixed media. Each work represents the dedication and hard work of the artists.
