The Cameron University Department of Art, Music and Theatre Arts will open its 2021-2022 Spirited Season with “Blithe Spirit,” Noel Coward’s classic 1941 comedy. The “high spirited” production will be presented in the University Theatre from Thursday, September 30, through Sunday, October 3. The curtain goes up on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $13 for adults and $10 for senior citizens, military, Cameron faculty and staff, and non-Cameron students. Award-winning poet Ken Hada will kick off Cameron University’s Visiting Writer’s Series, presented by the Department of Communication, English and Foreign Languages, on Friday, September 17 at 7 p.m. The presentation, which is open to the public at no charge, takes place in the Buddy Green Room in the McMahon Centennial Complex.
Cameron University will join colleges and universities across the nation to celebrate Constitution Day on Friday, September 17, with "The Constitution in the Age of COVID-19," a virtual presentation by Judge Robert A. Cameron University has been awarded the 2021 Excellence in Assessment (EIA) designation by the National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment (NILOA) in partnership with the Association of American Colleges and Universities, and VSA Analytics, a joint initiative of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and the Association of Public & Land-grant Universities
Cameron University has announced the President’s and Dean’s honor rolls for the Summer 2021 semester. To make the President’s Honor Roll, undergraduate students must be enrolled full-time (carrying at least six hours of classes for the summer semester) and maintain a straight-A (4.0) average. The Dean’s Honor Roll requires a B (3.00-3.99) average.
Cameron University has received a five-year grant totaling $2,088,635 from the U.S. Department of Education for CU’s Open Doors/Talent Search program. Open Doors/Talent Search serves 775 participants throughout Lawton Public Schools’ 6th through 12th grades. The grant funding period starts on September 1, 2021, allowing the university to continue its work in supporting the concept that anyone, regardless of race, ethnic background or economic circumstances, can complete a program of postsecondary education.
Cameron University professor Hyunsoon Whang will be joined by violinist David Kim, concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra, when she takes the stage at the Cameron University Theatre on Tuesday, August 24. Kim and Whang will present a recital featuring the complete Brahms sonatas for violin and piano.
The 7:30 p.m. performance is sponsored by Cameron University Lectures and Concerts Series and community member Pam Marion. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for senior citizens/military/K-12 students. CU students are admitted at no charge with valid CU id.
The Cameron Psychology Clinic (CPC), an educational facility that allows Cameron University graduate students pursing a Master of Science in Behavioral Sciences degree to undergo experiential learning, will begin seeing clients on Monday, August 23. Cameron University has a full slate of activities planned for new and returning students during Welcome Week, which kicks off on Sunday, August 15, and continues through Thursday, August 19. Welcome Week activities are open to all Cameron students at no charge and are sponsored by the Programming Activities Council (PAC), a student-led organization, unless otherwise noted.
