Cameron University’s Hyunsoon Whang will present “Beethoven Sonata Cycle 2,” the second in a series of piano recitals where she will ultimately perform a complete cycle of Beethoven’s sonatas. The recital will take place on Thursday, October 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the University Theatre. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $8 for senior citizens, K-12 students and members of the military. Cameron University is encouraging individuals who have earned some college credits to enroll in a degree completion program by hosting virtual Reach Higher: Reconnect sessions on Wednesday, October 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursday, October 22, from 5 to 6 p.m. During the sessions, participants will learn about Cameron’s Organizational Leadership degree program and learn about financial assistance, admissions and enrollment. Student Support Services, Talent Search/Open Doors and Upward Bound, three of Cameron University’s most critical student support programs, have received grants from the U.S. Department of Education that will allow them to continue to provide significant services to underserved populations through August 2021.

Cameron University’s Civic Symphony will present “Going for Baroque,” an outdoor concert in the Fine Arts Courtyard, on Saturday, October 3, at 3 p.m. The program will feature string ensemble music from the Baroque era featuring selections by J.S. Bach, Antonio Vivaldi and Arcangelo Corelli. The concert is open to the public at no charge. Social distancing will be in effect, as well as the use of face coverings. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will take place in the McCutcheon Recital Hall, which will be limited to 50 patrons.

Fall graduates are eligible to participate in graduation ceremonies at the end of the spring semester, since Cameron does not hold a. fall ceremony. The 2020 Commencement is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 1, at Cameron Stadium.

A celebratory video will be posted at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 1, on Cameron’s YouTube channel. That is when the university’s traditional outdoor Commencement in Cameron Stadium would have started had the coronavirus pandemic not forced its postponement until this fall.
