Cameron University seniors Tereasa Neeley and Tiffany Nicole Estes will be featured during the Department of Communication, English and Foreign Languages’ English: Creative Writing Senior Showcase. They will present readings from some of their works on Thursday, April 21, at 4 p.m. in Nance-Boyer 2064. The event is open to the public.
The Cameron University Department of Art, Music and Theatre Arts will pay homage to the late Benson Warren, a long-time faculty member who taught sculpture, design and various other art classes to CU students for 40 years, with a sculpture exhibition starting on Friday, April 22. “Collective Castings: An Homage to Benson Warren” will feature works created by Warren as well as one of his former students, Tanya Synar, and a former colleague and fellow sculptor, Robbie Barber.
For those considering pursuing a degree from Cameron University’s Department of Computing and Technology but unsure of the differences between the department’s two undergraduate degree programs – Computer Science and Information Technology -- the upcoming CU in Computing event has the answers. The free, virtual informational presentation will feature specifics about each degree program, including courses, options, and undergraduate research opportunities. Career options will also be covered. CU in Computing will take place on Thursday, April 22, at 4 p.m.
The Cameron University Department of Social Sciences will offer training sessions to law enforcement officers who are seeking continuing education on the topic of human trafficking. Presented in partnership with The Red Cord and the Human Trafficking Training Center, the two-day training is set for Tuesday, April 26, and Wednesday, April 27, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Shepler Ballroom. The training sessions will be conducted by Dan Nash and Alison Phillips, co-founders of the Human Trafficking Training Center.
If you’re considering earning a master's degree to become a school principal or other school leader (which requires a minimum of one year experience as a classroom teacher), then "CU Become an Educational Leader," a free, specialized workshop, is for you. This informative workshop, presented by Cameron University's Department of Education, takes place on Tuesday, April 26, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Johnson Auditorium at Ross Hall.
Brig. Gen. Hope C. Rampy, a distinguished military graduate of Cameron University, will deliver the Commencement address to the Class of 2022 on Friday, May 6, and Saturday, May 7, in Cameron Stadium. Ceremonies begin at 7:30 p.m. nightly.
Cameron University piano students of Dr. Hyunsoon Whang will move from classroom to performance to demonstrate their accompanying skills. They will accompany vocal students of Dr. Christian Morren in a recital that will allow both pianists and vocalists to shine during Soiree: Liederabend, slated for Tuesday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the McCutcheon Recital Hall. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for senior/military/non-Cameron students. CU students, faculty and staff are admitted free with CU I.D.
Cameron University is pleased to congratulate the students who completed graduation requirements at the end of the Fall 2021 semester. Fall graduates are eligible to participate in graduation ceremonies at the end of the spring semester. The 2022 Commencement is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 6, and Saturday, May 7, at Cameron Stadium.
The Cameron University chapter of Phi Eta Sigma, the nation’s oldest and largest honor society for first year college students, has welcomed 19 new members, who earned the qualification criteria in the spring or fall of 2021. Phi Eta Sigma, with chapters on more than 375 college campuses across the nation, encourages and rewards academic excellence achieved by students during their freshman year in institutions of higher learning.
