Cameron University’s 2020 Commencement is set for Saturday, October 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Cameron Stadium. Students who completed coursework in December 2019, May or July 2020, or will complete in December 2020 are eligible to participate in Commencement. Those planning to participate in the ceremony must register at www.cameron.edu/commencement/register-for-commencement. COVID-19 protocols will be in effect for the ceremony.
Cameron University has announced the President’s and Dean’s honor rolls for the Summer 2020 semester. To make the President’s Honor Roll, undergraduate students must be enrolled full-time (carrying at least six hours of classes) and maintain a straight-A (4.0) average. The Dean’s Honor Roll requires a B (3.00-3.99) average.

Cameron University will kick off its 11th Academic Festival, “Connections: Information Transfer Between People,” with a presentation by mental health advocate Frank Warren. The event, which is free and open to the public, takes place on Tuesday, September 22, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are required for admission and can be reserved online at http://www.cameron.edu/festivalxi. The deadline to order tickets is Friday, September 11. Tickets will be distributed by mail or can be picked up in advance from the Office of Public Affairs, Administration Building, Room 150 beginning on Monday, September 14. Cameron University alumna Brigit Minden has been named as one of the recipients of the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST), the nation’s highest recognition of K-12 math and science teachers. The honor was announced by President Donald J. Trump earlier this week. Minden graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and a minor in psychology. She teaches mathematics at Central High School, where she was the district’s Teacher of the Year in 2016.
Cameron University has selected “Connections: Information Transfer Between People” as the theme for its 11th academic festival, a dynamic, privately funded, year-long symposium that explores a topic worthy of in-depth study. Through a series of presentations by nationally recognized speakers, Cameron will consider three distinct aspects of the festival theme: social interactions, workplace and medicine.
Four Cameron University education students have been awarded Future Teacher Scholarships, a program funded by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE). Brandon Langford, Amanda McClure, Makayla Meadows and Erika Montgomery are the recipients.
Cameron University announced this week that it plans to hold an outdoor ceremony in October to award degrees to the Class of 2020. The rescheduled event – complete with the traditional fireworks display – will start at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, in Cameron Stadium.
Cameron University students continue as the primary focus of the university as today the university’s governing board was presented with a 2020-2021 budget that maintains tuition and fees at current rates. In addition to holding tuition and fees at current rates for the third consecutive year, the proposed $43,365,886 operating budget earmarks almost $34 million for student instruction, academic support, student scholarships and tuition waivers, and student services during the upcoming academic year. Cameron’s tuition and mandatory fees structure is also subject to approval by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.
