University Awards presented to CU students and student organizations




The achievements of Cameron University students and student organizations were recognized during a recent awards ceremony hosted by the Office of Events and Activities.

Cierra Howse, president of the Native American Intertribal Association, was honored with the Outstanding Student Organization Leader Award.

The Exemplary Student Organization award recognizes an organization that contributes most to the lives of its members and student life on campus. The Association of Computing and Technology Students earned the honor once more, as it received the award last year. The organization also took the top award for Event of the Year – Academic Organization for two initiatives, Resumes and Readiness and CU Trunk or Treat.

The Accounting Club was honored with the Outstanding Community Service Project Award for its participation in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Event of the Year – Non-academic Organization was bestowed on the Health Professions Society’s Alzheimer’s Association Awareness event.

Two students were recognized with the Intramural Student Athlete Award. Ethan Weaver and Alex Weaver received the award for their participation on intramural volleyball.

Austin James Bowles was honored with the Emerging Student Organization Leader award for his work with the Accounting Club.

Makenzie Baker received the SGA Rising Star Award, and Oren Kennedy was recognized as SGA Member of the Year.

The Programming Activities Council also presented awards. Ty Spence was named 2024-25 PAC Executive Member of the Year, serving as the organization’s event coordinator. Macy Crew, Zachariah Huibregtse, Jady Soliz and Cadence Treadwell were honored with the PAC Dedicated Membership Award.

The Office of Admissions recognized Derek Doan and Kolby Rivas for outstanding representation as Aggie Ambassadors.
