perform as collaborators in a recital that will allow pianists, vocalists and other musicians to shine. Soirée XV: Schubertiade II is slated for Friday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the McCutcheon Recital Hall.

Tickets purchased at the door are $10 for adult and $8 for senior citizens, members of the military and non-CU students. Franz Schubert was an early romantic Austrian composer who is unrivaled as a Lied (German song with piano accompaniment) composer. During Schubert’s time, Schubertiades were intimate gatherings at homes and salons in which Schubert’s music was introduced and performed for their guests with Schubert himself at the piano.

“Today, Schubertiades serve as concerts celebrating Schubert’s exquisite music,” says Dr. Hyunsoon Whang, professor of music. “Cameron music students presented the first Schubertiade in 2017, making this the second time we are devoting the concert to Schubert’s music exclusively.”

The concert will feature selections of Schubert’s celebrated song cycle “Die Winterreise” and “Romanze” for voice, clarinet and piano, as well as a four-hand piano duet, and “Serenade” arranged for cello and piano. The concert has been a collaborative effort by Whang, Dr. Christian Morren and Danielle Angeloni. Students learn a valuable experience of collaborating with their colleagues in a chamber music setting, being coached by faculty members other than their own teacher, and deeply delving into Schubert’s opus.

Featured pianists will include Chelsea Mitchell, Cache, and Lillie Hodgson, Lawton. Vocalists appearing will be Sophia Avila, Vanessa Cleophat, Divina D’Haiti, Kristin Dunn, Samantha Gillespie, Alex Miller, Grace Norbury and Lillie Wright, all of Lawton. Also performing will be cellist Susan Morren, Norman; and Bella Saucedo, Lawton, on clarinet.
