McCarty joins CU as VP for University Advancement

Kristine McCarty has joined Cameron University as Vice President for University Advancement. A member of CU president Shane Hunt’s executive council, McCarty will serve as chief development and engagement officer overseeing the university’s development, alumni engagement and community outreach.

“I am thrilled to welcome a highly strategic, collaborative and results-oriented advancement professional,” Hunt said about McCarty. “As a member of the Cameron team, Kristine will lead an era of innovation in the university’s fundraising, engagement and visibility efforts. I’m confident that her efforts will galvanize alumni, parents, friends and the broader community to position, elevate and advance CU.”

“Cameron is dedicated to student success and making a meaningful impact in southwestern Oklahoma and beyond,” McCarty noted. “I am excited to partner with our alumni, donors and friends to strengthen a culture of philanthropy, build meaningful relationships and advance CU’s mission in ways that create opportunities for our students and the region. Cameron has a bright future ahead, and I am truly honored to join the Aggie family during this exciting time.”

As Cameron’s chief advancement officer, McCarty will craft a vision and strategic plan to meet the university’s fundraising aspirations, identify and leverage new corporate and foundation support, and ensure consistent engagement and outreach to all constituents, with an emphasis on deepening relationships between CU and regional businesses and industry.

Among her responsibilities is that of developing strategies for annual fund campaigns, leadership giving, comprehensive and special-need campaigns, and planned and deferred gifts. McCarty will develop and maintain positive relationships with alumni and donors, develop proposals for potential donors and host recognition presentations to CU financial supporters.

McCarty comes to Lawton from Idaho State University, where she was most recently Director of Development. Her accomplishments include building long-term donor partnerships that led to several seven-figure gifts – including a historic gift for the ISU College of Business – and doubling university-wide endowed professorships. Additionally, she implemented the most successful annual campaign in the history of ISU’s College of Business, secured funding for key programs and established an alumni mentorship program.

Prior to that position, McCarty served as director of ISU’s Leadership Center, director of Graduate Studies and director of Undergraduate Studies.

She holds a Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in marketing and an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology with a marketing minor, both from ISU. She is a Veritus Scholar certified in major gift fundraising and is experienced in survey creation and data analysis.
