The Cameron University Department of Art, Music and Theatre Arts is pleased to present a special guest appearance by Hamilton Tescarollo, who will present a piano concert titled “Dances, Brazil and St. Francis: on Tuesday, September 30. The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. in the McCutcheon Recital Hall. There is no charge to attend.
A nationally known Brazilian-Italian pianist, Tescarollo is a professor at Purdue University in Fort Wayne, Ind. He chose “Dances, Brazil and St. Francis” for the concert title to reflect the selection of music he’ll be performing. Dr. Hyunsoon Whang will join him for the latter.
Since his debut with the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP), Tescarollo has performed as both soloist and collaborative artist throughout North and South America as well as Europe. He has appeared in international music festivals around the world. Recent performances have taken him to venues such as Salle Gaveau in Paris and Carnegie Hall in New York. A versatile musician who performs both the mainstream and the avant-garde repertory, he frequently includes the music of Brazil and other Latin-American countries in his programs. He is featured in three published CDs.
Tescarollo serves as Professor of Music and Director of Keyboard Studies at Purdue University Fort Wayne, where he has taught since 2007. He also serves as piano faculty at the Interlochen Arts Camp and at the InterHarmony International Music Festival. He is the founder and director of the Gene Marcus Piano Competition and the Gene Marcus Piano Camp and Festival. In addition, he is a frequent masterclass presenter and competition adjudicator.
A dedicated teacher, he has received Teacher of the Year awards from the Indiana Music Teachers Association and the Schimmel-AZ Piano Young Artist Piano Competition. He holds a doctorate in piano performance from Arizona State University.
Prior to the concert, Tescarollo will be conducting a Masterclass, co-sponsored by the Lawton Music Teachers Association, for Cameron piano students and area pre-college students will have a chance to learn from him.
