The Cameron University Department of Art, Music and Theatre Arts will welcome guest artist Daniel McKelway for a chamber music concert that will also feature Dr. Christian Morren and Dr. Hyunsoon Whang. The concert takes place on Thursday, September 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the McCutcheon Recital Hall.

The program for the evening is Louis Spohr’s “Six Deutsche Lieder,” composed in 1837 for soprano, clarinet and piano; songs by Gabriel Fauré, one of the foremost French composers of his generation; and Debussy’s “Premiere Rhapsody,” composed between December 1909 and January 1910. McKelway joined The Cleveland Orchestra as assistant principal and E-flat clarinet in 1995. He gained national attention as winner of the 1984 Young Concert Artists Auditions, which led to debut performances at the Kennedy Center and New York’s 92nd Street Y. His awards include an Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Affiliate Artists Auditions and third prize at the Naumburg Competition.

He has performed widely as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States and abroad, appearing at Marlboro, Newport, Tanglewood and Vancouver festivals, and touring and recording with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. He studied with Robert Listokin and Harold Wright.

This event is made possible by a grant from Cameron University Lectures and Concerts.
