Carrying on a campus tradition that goes back almost 80 years, Cameron University is inviting schools across southwest Oklahoma to participate in its annual FFA Interscholastic Meet on Friday, April 10.
This event helps high school students with an interest in agriculture to test their skills against one another in areas ranging from animal science and agronomy to leadership and business.
This has been a long-standing event at Cameron, dating back to 1947 when it was an agricultural junior college.
"Cameron University’s Agricultural, Biology and Health Sciences Department is proud to welcome the future leaders of Oklahoma agriculture to our campus,” said Destiny Wahweah, coordinator of the contest. “We are excited to meet the next wave of agricultural leaders and celebrate their passion for the industry.”
Participants will demonstrate their knowledge in a wide range of events, including agricultural sales, food science, nursery and landscaping, spot crops and veterinary science. Quiz bowl competition is also planned in two fields: agriculture and animal science. Team awards will be announced at the end of the competition.
Registration remains open until April 8. To register, go to https://www.judgingcard.com/. The cost to register is $25 per team per event.
