Cameron University presents an evening of music featuring the talents of its conducting students, the Cameron University Concert Band and the Cameron University Concert Choir, who will be joined by the Rose State College Chorus, conducted by Dr. Tracey Gregg-Boothby. The concert takes place on Thursday, April 25, at 7 p.m. in the Cameron University Theatre.

Tickets purchased at the door are $10 for adult and $8 for senior citizens, members of the military and non-CU students. Cameron University students, faculty and staff receive one free admission with their CU I.D. Tickets can be reserved by calling the box office at 580-581-2346. The concert will open with the Cameron University Concert Band, which will be conducted by instrumental music majors. Student conductors include Chelsea Mitchell conducting Sousa's "Washington Post March," Lillie Hodgson conducting Holst's "Suite in E flat," Alyssa Price leading the band in Holsinger's "On a Southern Hymn Song," and Mykayla Waller conducting Howard Hanson's "Chorale and Alleluia.”

That will be followed by a performance by the Cameron University Concert Choir, which will be conducted by vocal music majors. The choir segment of the concert will feature Grace Norbury conducting Kevin Memley's "There Will Come Soft Rains" and senior Marckese Williams, who is conducting Victor Johnson's "May the Road Rise Up to Meet You."

Guest artist Dr. Tracey Gregg-Boothby will conduct a performance by the Rose State College Chorus. Earlier in the day, she will lead a conducting symposium during which she will work closely with the music students on choral conducting.

The choral portion of the concert will end with an acapella piece, Jacob Narverud’s arrangement of “Light in the Hallway” performed by both choirs and conducted by Gregg-Boothby.

“This opportunity provides guidance from a seasoned professional, enriching the educational experience for our conducting students,” says Dr. Christian Morren, director of the CU Concert Choir. "We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Greg-Boothby and the Rose State College chorus. Their participation adds an exciting dimension to the evening and reinforces our commitment to fostering collaboration and excellence in music education."
