Community members from throughout southwest Oklahoma are invited to meet Dr. C. Shane Hunt, Cameron University’s new president, during receptions at either the Lawton and Duncan campuses. President Hunt will greet guests in Lawton on Wednesday, July 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the McCasland Foundation Ballroom of the McMahon Centennial Complex, located on the east side of campus. Parking is available at the intersection of S.W. University Drive and S.W. D Avenue.
He also looks forward to meeting community members on Thursday, July 10, from 4 to 6 p.m. at CU-Duncan, located at 3100 W. Bois D’Arc Avenue. Parking is available adjacent to the building.
“My family and I are so thrilled and thankful to be part of the southwest Oklahoma community,” Hunt says. “We are so excited about the very bright future we have ahead for Cameron University students and the communities we serve.”
Hunt was chosen to become Cameron’s 18th president by The Board of Regents for the University of Oklahoma, Cameron University and Rogers State University in March. A native Oklahoman, he returns to the Sooner State following stints at Arkansas State University and Idaho State University.
After completing Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration degrees at the University of Oklahoma where he met Jenifer, his wife of 25 years, he began working for a Fortune 500 company in Tulsa and spent eight years working as a pricing analyst, product manager and business development manager before completing his Ph.D. at Oklahoma State University.
He joined the faculty of Arkansas State University in 2007 and was named Dean of the College of Business in 2014. In 2020, he was named Dean of the College of Business, Michael C. Ruettgers Professor of Marketing, and Vice Provost for Entrepreneurship and Economic Innovation at Idaho State University.
Hunt has received numerous honors throughout his academic career. Honors and awards include the National Society of Collegiate Scholars’ National Inspire Integrity Award, the Lt. Col. Barney Smith Award as Professor of the Year and the Honors Professor of the Year at Arkansas State University, and the National Teaching Innovation Award from the Association of Collegiate Marketing Educators.
His research has appeared in The Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management and The Journal of Business Logistics, and he co-authored four Principles of Marketing textbooks and two professional selling textbooks published by McGraw Hill that are used by students across the globe.
