Cameron University professor earns Master Reviewer certification from Quality Matters

Dr. Abbas Johari, a professor in the Department of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, has earned certification as a Master Reviewer from Quality Matters, a global organization leading quality assurance in online and innovative digital teaching and learning environments.

The Master Reviewer certification entails an intensive course preparing QM Peer Reviewers to serve in the role of QM Master Reviewer for QM-Managed, Subscriber-Managed, or Subscriber-Managed by a Certified Course Review Manager. Master Reviewers ensure the rigor and consistency of the peer review process. The Master Reviewer certification is required for team chairs on all official course reviews.

To become a Master Reviewer, Dr. Johari completed a series of QM workshops, served on official QM-Managed or Subscriber-Managed course reviews and had to have the QM Certified Peer Reviewer certification. He has served as a Certified Peer Reviewer since 2021.

With a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology, a Masters of Technology in Information Technology and a B.S. in Engineering Technology, Johari’s expertise in those subject matters enhances the depth of the QM Master Reviewer roster. Currently, there are 31 Master Reviewers among the 28 Oklahoma QM member institutions.

Cameron is among the more than 1500 institutions worldwide that hold membership in Quality Matters. To date, 87 of CU’s online classes have been QM-certified.
