Calling all Aggie alumni and community supporters! Head to the Lawton campus of Cameron University for the 2023 Homecoming: Here’s to the Black and Gold, featuring a multitude of opportunities to celebrate, reminisce and enjoy life! Homecoming activities geared to alumni are slated for Friday, February 10, and Saturday, February 11.
Alumni, friends and supporters can experience a variety of Cameron homecoming traditions, including the Homecoming Tailgate Party, men’s and women’s basketball games, presentation of the annual Cameron University Alumni Association Awards and the annual Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Aggie Homecoming activities kick off on Monday, February 6, with a variety of activities and events for CU students.
Activities geared toward CU alumni and supporters are as follows:
Friday, February 10
3 p.m. | Aggie Baseball vs Angelo State, McCord Field
The Aggies take on Lone Star Conference foe Angelo State for the first home game of the baseball season. Whether they’re facing line drives, bunts or pop-ups, the Aggies are ready to count the Rams out!
7:30 p.m. | Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Reception, McCasland Foundation Ballroom
It’s time to congratulate the 2023 inductees into the Athletics Hall of Fame! Learn about the achievements of these valued Aggie athletes during a touching induction ceremony, then mingle and “remember when” during the post-induction reception. This year’s inductees are John Hollarn, Ryan King, Daniel Pazos and Freddy Wisdom. Open to the public at no charge.
Saturday, February 11
10:30 a.m. | Men’s Golf Reunion Brunch, Shepler Ballroom
All former members of the Aggie men’s golf team can re-live their glory days on the links during a reunion that will also celebrate the 1983 NAIA National Championship men’s golf team.
12 p.m. | Tailgate Party, Across from Aggie Gym
Join us for a family-friendly cookout and tailgate party as we prepare to cheer on the Aggies. You’ll find outdoor games and activities for all ages, and more!
1 p.m. | Aggie Baseball vs Angelo State, McCord Field
Listen for the crack of bats and runners tagging the bases as the Aggies face Angelo State in a doubleheader as the first home series of the season continues.
1 p.m. and 3 p.m. | Aggie Basketball vs University of Texas Permian Basin, Aggie Gym
The men’s and women’s basketball teams will be buoyed by alumni support as they face a conference foe! The Athletics Hall of Fame inductees will be recognized during halftime of the women’s game.
6:30 p.m. | CUAA Awards Dinner, McCasland Ballroom, McMahon Centennial Complex
Celebrate with the recipients of the Cameron University 2021, 2022 and 2023 Alumni Association Awards, honoring Distinguished Alumni, Outstanding Young Alumni, Faculty Hall of Fame, and Outstanding Aggies of Tomorrow. ($20 per person; February 6 reservation deadline; call the Office of Alumni Relations at 580-581-2988 for reservations/tickets)
Sunday, February 12
1 p.m. | Aggie Baseball vs Angelo State, McCord Field
The Aggies wrap up the home opener series against conference rival Angelo State. Let’s hope the Aggie pitches are high and tight and the Aggie runners make it to home plate!
