Cameron University-Duncan to offer career pathways conference for high school, college students




Cameron University-Duncan, in collaboration with Duncan Regional Hospital, Exploring Healthcare Career Opportunities and the Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation, will present Prepared for Success, a career-ready conference, on Wednesday, March 29, from 8:15 until 10:45 a.m. The event takes place at CU-Duncan and is open to high school students throughout southwest Oklahoma as well as current Cameron University students. There is no charge to attend. Pre-registration is encouraged and can be completed at https://www.cameron.edu/duncan/events. Registrations will also be accepted on-site.

Attendees will learn about specific career pathways in which they are interested. Options include Business/Finance/Information Technology, Education/Coaching/Early Childhood, Healthcare, Communications/Journalism, Public Service/Police/Fire/Ambulance, and Manufacturing/Engineering.

Participants will rotate through four brief sessions during the event. Career Pathways will allow attendees to meet with professionals from the career of their choice to gain first-hand knowledge about what to expect in that given profession. The Professional Panel session will be a guided presentation with prepared questions. Career Exploration will provide an opportunity for attendees to visit numerous stations and ask questions about various professions. During Strategies for Success, students will learn resume-writing and interview skills, get tips on dressing professionally and gain insight about how to navigate the career world successfully.
