Dr. Krystal Brue’s role as Dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies has changed, if only slightly. This week, the Board of Regents for the University of Oklahoma, Cameron University and Rogers State University voted to remove “acting” from her title and make the role permanent.
Brue, a professor of management at Cameron, had served as dean in an acting role since August 2025 when she was selected to replace Dr. Jennifer Dennis, who had left CU to take a position at another university.
"Dr. Brue's positive impact can be felt throughout Cameron University and the workforce of southwest Oklahoma,” said CU president Shane Hunt. “Her leadership with industry partnerships, micro-credential program development, and innovative student learning has made every part of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies better, and I am very excited about the great things ahead with Krystal as dean."
Brue brings more than 30 years of human resource, organizational behavior, and training and development experience to her position as dean.
While her terminal degree is in Business Administration, Brue is a Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional, a globally recognized, competency-based credential for human resource professionals who operate at a strategic level. She is also a Senior Professional in Human Resources, the premier credential awarded by the HR Certification Institute. Along with those, she holds a number of professional certifications, as well as Oklahoma teaching and principal certifications.
Brue holds degrees from Abilene Christian University and Northcentral University.
Brue began her association with Cameron as an adjunct professor in 1992 and started her full-time teaching career in 2013. From 2019-2025, she chaired the CU Department of Business – known today as the McMahon School of Business – and also served as Assistant Dean of Outreach and Accreditation from 2022-2026. She currently holds the Lawton Insurance Agents Endowed Chair in Business.
She has published 14 articles within the Journal of Leadership Education, Administrative Issues Journal and Journal of Human Resources Education, as well as others on work-life balance, leadership, anti-harassment cultures, and current HR employment trends.
In 2017 and 2018, she was presented back-to-back outstanding research paper awards from the Association of Leadership Educators.
Brue was inducted into the Cameron University Hall of Fame in 2023. In 2025 she was recognized as the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs Region 6 Outstanding Teaching Award and received the Society of Human Resource Management’s Oklahoma Lumineer Award.
