Cameron University will welcome as many as 75 youngsters from kindergarten through eighth grade next week for “MIGHT Night,” an event that will showcase their science talents. The two-hour event begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 23, on the first floor of the CU Sciences Complex, 2800 W. Gore Blvd. in Lawton.
While on campus, students and their families will have the chance to tour the Sciences Complex, enjoy dinner and see a science demonstration, said Dr. Lance Janda, Dean of CU’s College of Arts and Sciences, which is organizing the event.
Some of the youngsters plan to display science projects they created during the summer.
“We could not be more proud to partner with MIGHT to showcase the good work it does in the community and to offer programs that will help their patrons in as many ways as possible,” Janda said. “Exposing kids to career possibilities, especially those offered by Cameron, is a bonus.”
Founded in 2001, MIGHT Community Development and Resource Center is a Lawton-based non-profit that collaborates with government agencies, churches, civic partners and the community to offer a wide range of services. Its programs include educational, social, economic, health, and spiritual guidance and referral sources to establish a cohesive atmosphere for community growth, personal development and civic pride.
