Awards and scholarships presented to chemistry, physics and engineering students




The Cameron University Department of Chemistry, Physics and Engineering celebrated the achievements of its students during a recent ceremony in which students were inducted into honor societies and received recognition, and scholarships were awarded.

Inductees into Gamma Sigma Epsilon, the national chemistry honor society, were Cierra Howse, Lexington; Chloe Middleton, Peck, Kan.; Malerie Nyberg, Chandler, Ariz.; Jacob Thorne, Lawton; and Alyson Trumbo, Duncan.

Leilani Hunter, Lawton, received the Wichita Falls/Duncan Section of the American Chemical Society Senior Award.

Trumbo and Landon Holley, Duncan, received the Thomas C. Brown Scholarship, and The Allen and Francis Zisman Endowed Scholarship in Chemistry was awarded to Addison Brackin, Duncan.

The Jimmy and Virgie Stanton Achievement Award, which recognizes academic performance by students pursuing a degree in chemistry or physics, was presented to Holley, Thorne and Trumbo as well as James Breitigan, Addington; Jacob Peel, Elgin; Kaleb Cossette, Lydia Park, Alexis Salone, Carlos Taylor and Aidan Veld, all of Lawton; and Hailey Franklin, Walters.

Recipients of the Michael Landoll Endowed Scholarship in STEM were Ophelia Brown, Cache, and Oren Kennedy, Elgin. Cossett and Jeran Rivera, Lawton, were awarded the Billy Slabaugh Endowed Scholarship in Chemistry.

The Kenneth C. Garner Endowed Scholarship in STEM was presented to Nicholas Daukei, Lawton, and Juan Martinez, Duncan. Noa Garcia Meijas, Cache, received the Michael B. Brown Endowed Scholarship in Engineering.

Holley, Rivera, Trumbo and Thorne also received tuition waivers, received tuition waivers, along with Bryce Pinkston, Cache.

Trumbo and Kess Dew, Lawton, were honored as Outstanding Student Workers.
