Cameron University students honored with membership into Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society for first-year students


The Cameron University chapter of Phi Eta Sigma, the nation’s oldest and largest honor society for first year college students, has welcomed 10 new members, who earned the qualification criteria in the spring or fall of 2022. Phi Eta Sigma, with chapters on more than 375 college campuses across the nation, encourages and rewards academic excellence achieved by students during their freshman year in institutions of higher learning.


Cameron University student housing available to part-time students


Starting with the Summer 2023 semester, Cameron University’s student housing facilities will be available to part-time students. Undergraduate students who lived in campus housing were previously required to be full-time students unless during their final semester. With a recent update to the policy, undergraduate students only need to be enrolled part-time to reside in the Shepler residence halls or Cameron Village apartments. Graduate students must be enrolled in three credit hours during any semester they reside on campus.


CU’s Katie Stringer named Top Oklahoma Coach of the Year by Oklahoma Intercollegiate Forensics Association


Cameron University faculty member Katie Stringer, a Communications instructor who also serves as the university’s speech and debate coach, has been named Top Oklahoma Coach of the Year by the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Forensics Association. Stringer was recognized for her service to speech and debate events throughout the state. She was actively involved in organizing numerous tournaments and worked to ensure that tournaments had competitors and judges on-site. As the outgoing president of OIFA, she helped orchestrate the state tournament.


Mark Woommavovah to address CU Class of 2023


Mark Woommavovah, chairman of the Comanche Nation, author and retired Army officer, will deliver Cameron University’s Commencement address to the Class of 2023 on Friday, May 5, in Cameron Stadium. The ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m.


CU dedicates Eugene D. McMahon Library


Cameron University’s Eugene D. McMahon Library was dedicated Monday, the latest in a growing number of initiatives made possible by more than $20 million in support by the McMahon Foundation over the years.
