Hooding Address
Lt. Col. Brian Hayes
Today’s hooding address is being delivered by Lt. Col. Brian Hayes, a Military Intelligence Officer in the United States Army who currently serves as the chair of Cameron University’s Department of Military Science. A native of Maryland, Colonel Hayes has devoted 29 years of service to the U.S. Army, where he has held numerous positions of increasing responsibility, including two combat deployments in Iraq.
Colonel Hayes is now responsible for preparing cadets in Cameron’s Reserve Officer Training Corps program to become commissioned officers, a vital role he has undertaken since joining the CU faculty in 2022. Immediately following today’s hooding, Colonel Hayes will host a commissioning ceremony in the McCasland Ballroom of the McMahon Centennial Complex, during which eight of the Comanche Battalion's ROTC cadets will be appointed as Second Lieutenants in the United States Army.
In addition to his distinguished military career, Colonel Hayes holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from McDaniel College, where he graduated summa cum laude, and a Master of Science degree in Strategic Intelligence from the National Intelligence University. Today he receives his Master of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Cameron University.
Colonel Hayes’s academic achievements have been recognized through his recent induction into the CU chapters of Phi Kappa Phi and Delta Mu Delta honor societies.
He is married to the former Melissa Anne Mangold and they have a 16-year-old son, Timothy.
