Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Media Production

With a degree in Journalism and Media Production, you’ll graduate equipped with the skills you need for careers in multimedia journalism, TV and film production, social media, graphic design and photography, and beyond! The media literacy and journalistic writing and production skills you’ll learn here are adaptable to so many industries and applications, and they’re some of the most in-demand skills in today’s workforce.

Journalism and Media Production classes are taught by outstanding faculty who have won awards for their teaching here at Cameron as well as external awards from film festivals and industry organizations. With our small class sizes and emphasis on internships, practica, and mentoring relationships, you’ll get to work closely with these faculty as they share their expertise and knowledge. Journalism and Media Production students form a vibrant community, building lasting friendships as you work together in the TV studio and newsroom.

There are so many opportunities for real-world applied learning in JRMP! When you produce and create shows in our state-of-the-art TV Studio, you’ll be using and learning the same equipment you’ll see in your future career at a TV station! Our students can intern at a public radio station, do communication work for the City of Lawton and local organizations, and have even helped design logos and marketing material for community businesses. And I’m so proud of our student newspaper, The Collegian, for repeatedly winning the Oklahoma Press Association Better Newspapers Contest “Sequoyah Award” recognizing it as the best collegiate newspaper in the state.
