Bachelor of Arts in English
The BA in English lets you choose your own adventure – you’ll be introduced to creative writing, technical writing, and literary studies, have a solid foundation of theory and literature, but then get to take 18 credit hours of electives, charting your own path toward your unique goals and interests.
Want to be a poet or a novelist? You can do that! Interested in editing and the publishing industry? We have internships and hands-on classes that get you real-world experience in editing and publication! See a future in technical writing, copyediting, and content creation? Some of our graduates have been hired by major corporations to write industry training materials and web copy. A BA in English also prepares you for graduate studies in everything from law to library science, and with our strong research support, you could be presenting at scholarly conferences while you’re still an undergrad!
With vibrant student organizations like the Writer’s Studio and Sigma Tau Delta honors society, you’ll make new friends as you collaborate on projects like our two literary journals, The Gold Mine and The Oklahoma Review, or share your writing at one of our monthly open mic nights.
