“In Flux,” Cameron University’s senior art show, to open April 6 at Leslie Powell Gallery

The Cameron University Department of Art, Music and Theatre Arts will present the 2024 senior art exhibition, “In Flux,” at the Leslie Powell Gallery, 620 S.W. D Avenue. An opening reception is planned for Saturday, April 6, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and is open to the public at no charge. Artwork on display for the exhibition, which will run through May 3, will be available for purchase.

The presenting artists are Sage Girardot and Betty Jo Patris, Lawton; Lorena Jaquez, Fletcher; Krystal Solis, Comanche; and Katrielle Sonnenburg, Elgin.

The show’s title, “In Flux,” references the ongoing fluctuation and evolution of art itself, which is presented by the wide array of subjects, styles, and media. Each student presents the fruits of their ever-evolving journey, taking inspiration from their own identity, experiences and imagination.

Within the exhibition, several disciplines are represented, including painting, drawing, sculpture and graphic design. Within these works, themes of transformation, beauty, acceptance, nostalgia, identity and family are explored via a contemporary approach to creation.
