Cameron University offers summer camps for volleyball players and coaches




Middle school and high school volleyball players and coaches can hone their skills during the off-season at one of Cameron University’s six summer volleyball camps. Aggie head volleyball coach Brandon Stephenson will lead a camp for middle school setters, three skill-specific camps for high school students, a high school team camp and a camp for coaches. Middle School Camp

June 27-29, 10 to 11:30 a.m.

For 6th-8th grade students as of Fall 2022

$50 per camper

Designed to provide campers with instruction on all aspects of the sport of volleyball. The camp will provide campers with instruction on all aspects of volleyball skills. Beginners will learn the fundamentals needed to become efficient on the court. Campers will receive a camp T-shirt.

Campers who register for multiple high school skill camps (setter, hitter, libero) will receive a 10 percent discount.

Setter Camp

July 6-8, 10:30 a.m. to Noon

For 9th-12th grade students as of Fall 2022

$50 per camper

The setter camp is designed to give participants individual instruction on the setting position and will include instruction to campers on hand position, footwork, tempo and accuracy of sets. Drills will provide campers with many touches on the ball with some game-like situations included. Participants will be grouped according to age and skill level. Beginning setters will learn the fundamentals needed for development. More advanced setters will work on decision-making and strategy in addition to fundamentals. Campers will receive a camp t-shirt.

Hitter/Blocker Camp

July 6-8, 1 to 2:30 p.m.

For 9th-12th grade students as of Fall 2022

$50 per camper

Designed to provide campers with instruction on all aspects of hitting, the camp will provide campers with instruction on footwork, arm swing and shot selection. Beginners will learn the fundamentals needed to become efficient hitters, while advanced players will work fundamentals as well as on decision-making and strategy. Campers will be divided according to age and skill level. Learning groups will cover areas of attacking including: approach, take off, body awareness, arm swing, wrist/hand control, and shot selection. Campers will receive a camp t-shirt.

Libero Camp

July 6-8, 3 to 4:30 p.m.

For 9th-12th grade students as of Fall 2022

$50 per camper

This day camp is designed to give each player individual instruction on the passing position. Campers will be instructed on hand position, footwork, tempo and accuracy of passes. Drills give campers many touches on the ball with some game-like situations included. Campers will be divided according to age and skill level. Beginning passers will learn the fundamentals they must acquire for their development. More advanced passers, in addition to fundamentals, will also work on decision-making and strategy. Campers will receive a camp t-shirt.

Campers who register for multiple skill camps (setter, hitter, libero) will receive a 10 percent discount.


High School Volleyball Team Camp

July 11-14

For 9th-12th grade students as of Fall 2022

$60 per camper

The team camp is designed to provide teams an opportunity to play other teams and build chemistry before the season starts. Teams will play a minimum of two matches per day the first three days with a double elimination tournament on the final day. Teams will have an hour of practice the first three days with camp staff to go through drills. Coaches will need to register the players/team for this camp. Campers will receive a camp t-shirt.

Coach Clinic

July 14, 9 to 11 a.m.

$100 per coach; $80 per coach when two or more attend from the same organization

The coach’s clinic is open to volleyball coaches who are just starting their coaching adventure as well as those who want to acquire new and different ideas and strategies. The clinic will cover individual and group drills as well as different types of defense systems, coaching philosophies and how to help your players get recruited. Participants will receive a clinic notebook, and a gift bag.
