Cameron University associate professor David R. Bublitz will celebrate the release of “The Depend-Ant,” a children’s book about family military service, with a book release party on Thursday, September 25, at 6 p.m. in the Buddy Green Room of the McMahon Centennial Complex. During the event, Bublitz will read from the work, which he wrote and illustrated.

Dr. Shane Hunt has been on the job for 10 weeks, but on Tuesday, it becomes “official” when he is formally installed as Cameron University’s 18th president. An investiture ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. Sept. 9 in the University Theatre on Cameron’s Lawton campus. The event is open to the public.
The Cameron University Department of Art, Music and Theatre Arts will welcome guest artist Daniel McKelway for a chamber music concert that will also feature Dr. Christian Morren and Dr. Hyunsoon Whang. The concert takes place on Thursday, September 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the McCutcheon Recital Hall.

Veterans, active service members and their dependents who have questions regarding VA benefits can get assistance from representatives from key veterans organizations who will be on-site at Cameron University on Wednesday, September 3. CU’s Office of Veterans Affairs will host the representatives from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Room 301 of North Shepler.
Cameron University’s Visiting Writers Series, presented by the Department of Communications, English and Foreign Languages, will welcome author James Cooper, author of “Moonlit Massacre,” on Friday, August 22. He will read selections from the book, a work of historical non-fiction focused on the 1977 Sirloin Stockade mass murder, in Room 2060 of Nance-Boyer Hall starting at 7 p.m. The event is open to the public at no charge.
The Cameron University art program is pleased to present visiting artist Don Crouch, who will present “Don Crouch: The Collector and the Master,” a visual lecture, as well as “Myth and Reality: Western Masters,” an exhibition of his artwork, on Thursday, August 28. Both are open to the public at no charge.
Cameron University has received a $100,000 grant from Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages (CCSWB) that is aimed at supporting southwest Oklahomans who are the first from their families to attend college. The grant, awarded with no restrictions beyond supporting first-generation students, aligns perfectly with Cameron University’s mission.
