How Title IX Applies to Pregnancy and Parenting

The University prohibits discrimination based on sex or gender, which includes discrimination and harassment on the basis of pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, and all forms of sexual harassment, including sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking in compliance with applicable federal laws, including Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Violence Against Women Act of 1994 (as reauthorized), and applicable Oklahoma laws.


For Students

Cameron University does not discriminate in its education programs against any student based on the student's current, potential, or past pregnancy or related conditions. Students who are pregnant or have a pregnancy-related condition may have access to reasonable modifications. Reasonable modifications may include, but are not limited to:

- Breaks during class to express breast milk, breastfeed, or attend to health needs associated with pregnancy or related conditions

- Eating, drinking, or using the restroom

- Intermittent absences to attend medical appointments

- Access to online or homebound education (if available)

- Changes in schedule or course sequence

- Counseling

- Elevator access

- Other reasonable changes to policies, practices, or procedures.

Students receiving reasonable modifications are responsible for communicating those modifications with faculty.
