Departmental Scholarships

The Department of Social Sciences grants tuition waiver scholarships to eligible Criminal Justice, History, Political Science, Social Studies Education, and Sociology majors at all levels. Application guidelines, eligibility requirements, and deadlines for these scholarships are listed below. In addition, the Financial Assistance Office can help you to apply for federal assistance as well as for other scholarships available to Cameron students in a variety of disciplines.

H Glenn Williams Endowed Scholarship for Criminal Justice

Department of Social Sciences encourage qualified Criminal Justice majors to apply for Glenn Williams endowed scholarship in Criminal Justice.

Qualifications:
The purpose of this scholarship shall be to assist full-time students enrolled at Cameron University and pursuing a degree. The primary selection criteria to be considered are:

  • Recipient must have completed a minimum of 30 hours
  • Recipients must have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher
  • Recipients must be Criminal Justice majors
Application Deadline:  July 31, 2024


Awards

The funds can be used for books, supplies, fees, etc.

Applicants must submit one page letter detailing career goals and identify any scholarships and financial aid they are currently receiving:

1 student, $1,000.00 ($500 Fall 2024; $500 Spring 2025)

KF&B Law Academic Scholarship

The scholarship is open to any high school senior, or any college student who isn't in their final year. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the winner’s school’s financial aid department. The scholarship is open to any major, they do not have to be law students.

Tuition Waivers

Incoming freshmen who have declared majors in any department major are eligible for tuition waivers from the department. The requirement is that students have earned a 20 on the ACT or equivalent and/or have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or better.

Tuition waivers are available to continuing majors who hold a GPA of 3.0 or above and have completed at least thirty hours at the college level. 

To make an application for a tuition waiver scholarship click on the link in this sentence and follow the instructions there. Applications received by February 1 of a given year will receive first priority consideration, though applications received by April 1 of a given year will also be considered. Scholarship awards will be disbursed during the following academic year.
