Cameron University implements workforce readiness initiative CU Advance


Cameron University has implemented CU Advance, a new career pathway initiative that enhances degree completion by providing students with the knowledge and skills specific to their chosen degree program to ensure they are prepared to enter the workforce. CU Advance will guide students through specific career preparation stages by connecting them to an established network of employers, opportunities and resources prior to graduation.


Dr. Ioannis Argyros co-authors mathematics textbook; research provided by CU math students


Cameron University’s Dr. Ioannis Argyros, professor of mathematics, is the co-author of “Contemporary Algorithms: Theory and Applications Volume III,” a new edition to the Mathematics Research Developments Series published by Nova Science Publishers. Argyros wrote the textbook with Dr. Santhosh George, professor of mathematical and computational sciences at the National Institute of Technology in Karnataka, India.


Newly established Cameron University Banking Institute offers Certificate in Banking and Finance to employees of financial institutions


In an effort to create a skilled and trained workforce pipeline for banks, credit unions and other financial institutions in southwest Oklahoma, Cameron University has launched the Cameron University Banking Institute (CUBI). To that end, CUBI has established a Certificate in Banking and Finance that is available to current bank/credit union employees who are seeking additional education to advance their career. The certificate program is also available to current CU students who plan to join the financial industry upon degree completion.


Cameron University’s Festival XII to examine “Care and Health: A Generational Approach”


Cameron University has selected “Care and Health: A Generational Approach” as the theme of its 12th academic festival, a dynamic, privately funded, year-long symposium that explores a topic worthy of in-depth study. Using presentations that include nationally recognized speakers, Cameron will consider three distinct aspects of the festival theme: child and adolescent mental health, adult mental health and mental health support for caregivers and the individuals they support.


Cameron claims 15 awards in OCPRA contest


After claiming a record 14 awards in 2022, Cameron University’s Office of Public Affairs topped that effort this year by winning 15 awards in the Oklahoma College Public Relations Association’s 31st awards competition. Winners were announced at OCPRA’s annual summer conference, held earlier this month in Quapaw.


Painting by Cameron University’s Jack Crouch selected for exhibition


A painting by Cameron University’s Jack Crouch, assistant professor of art, has been selected for the first Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition (OVAC) Members Show. His oil painting, “Amanda,” will be on display from March 1 through mid-April at the Norick Art Center at Oklahoma City University, located at 1608 N.W. 26th Street in Oklahoma City.


Enrollment Saturday coming up at Cameron; fall classes start August 14


New, continuing or returning students who have been putting off enrollment for the Fall 2023 semester are encouraged to take advantage of Enrollment Saturday, a walk-in enrollment clinic scheduled on Saturday, August 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Lawton campus of Cameron University. Participants can head to the first floor of North Shepler Tower, located in the Shepler Center, where they will find assistance in the areas of admissions, financial aid, veterans educational benefits, academic advising and enrollment. The Shepler Center is located off Elsie Hamm Blvd. east of 38th Street; ample parking is available. Additionally, the Student Accounts office, located in the Administration Building, and the Bookstore, located in the McMahon Centennial Complex, will be open to serve students.


Raytheon Missiles and Defense provides funding for CU Military Spouse Program


The Cameron University Foundation has received a $10,000 grant from Raytheon Missiles and Defense, a business of Raytheon Technologies, to launch a new Military Spouse Program at Cameron University. The pilot program will offer aid to military spouses who are pursuing a college degree. Under the program, scholarships will be available for the 2021-2022 academic year.
