Microbiology Laboratory Assistant – Department of Ag, Bio & HSC

The Department of Agriculture, Biology and Health Sciences at Cameron University is looking for a State funded, work study student to work in its laboratories. The student will assist the lab manager in setting up and breaking down the labs for various classes. However, the primary responsibility will be in preparing media for microbiology labs. Responsibilities will include preparing solutions, cleaning glassware, making media, cleaning labs, checking safety equipment, and maintaining the chemical inventory. Other tasks may be performed as deemed necessary by the lab manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The student applicant should be familiar with laboratory work and should have completed Principles of Biology I, Principles of Biology II, Chemistry I, Chemistry II and Microbiology. The applicants must be able to follow instructions and pay attention to detail. Applicants must demonstrate a professional attitude and the ability to work individually as well as part of a team. The applicants must be willing to work 15-20 hours a week in 3 hour blocks of time or longer.
