COSTUME SHOP ASSISTANT - ART, MUSIC & THEATRE ARTS

The Department of Art, Music & Theatre Arts is looking for student workers to join our costume construction shop. Job duties include but are not limited to: using sewing machines and hand sewing methods to construct costumes for production, the upkeep of costume shop/costume storage area, and the upkeep of costumes and costume accessories. All responsibilities will be assigned by the costume shop director, technical director and Chair of the Department including adherence to all rules and regulations of Cameron University and Theatre safety protocol.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must be able willing to learn sewing and costume construction techniques. Student must be a quick learner, possess a positive attitude, have good communication skills, and be able to work under project deadlines. Must be easy to work with and be tolerant of others beliefs and lifestyles. Candidates should possess a valid driver’s license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred candidates will have previous experience with sewing machines and hand sewing techniques. Student with experience with theatrical costume construction or experience with crafts, hat making, armor, fabric painting or treatment techniques, bead work, embroidery, quick repair and alterations, theatrical properties strongly preferred.
