CU Engineering and Applied Mathematics Summer Academy

As Cameron University cooperates with a City of Lawton emergency declaration addressing COVID-19 concerns, the Summer Academy will be rescheduled to a later date. To be announced by July 1, 2020. Thank you for your understanding.

 June 6 –12, 2020

The focus of this academy is to allow students to study and experiment with solar power design by learning energy harnessing and application engineering through hands-on system build and design. Students will utilize a 3-D printer and raw materials to design and construct their solar-powered surface submarine or boat. Following the Engineering Design Process, students will research, design, test, and redesign their solar systems. Next, using their newly designed solar powered systems, students will strive to maximize their designs through the redesign process. The final project will include a design competition of the solar systems based on set criteria. As the weekends students will reflect on their team design process and their own personal growth during the academy as they present their week to fellow academy participants, faculty, sponsors and the community.
