Q- What is the difference between Posters and wide format
A- A poster is any job destined to be hung up and be under 13x19 in size. Anything larger then 13x19 will be required to print on the wide-format printer thus it's called a wide-format.
Q- What is a Bleed?
A- Bleed is a printing term that refers to printing that goes beyond the edge of the sheet before trimming. In other words, the bleed is the area to be trimmed off. The bleed is the part on the side of a document that gives the printer a small amount of space to account for movement of the paper, and design inconsistencies. Artwork and background colors can extend into the bleed area. After trimming, the bleed ensures that no unprinted edges occur in the final trimmed document.
Q- What is "camera ready"?
A- A final version that needed no further changes and is ready to be printed.
Q- What is Bulk Mail?
A- Bulk mail is a discount the post office gives for mail that has been sorted and had other processes done to it.
Q- Does it cost to fax?
A- Yes, first page is always $1, each additional page $0.50. We also provide a discount to faxes going to 800 numbers.
Q- Where are you located?
A- Cameron Lawton campus, in the admin building basement east end
Q- How can I submit files?
A- Files can be emailed to Printshop@cameron.edu, uploaded to the print shop W:/ drive or brought in on a thumb drive or cd.
Q- What the max sizes I can do on each machine?
A- Press: 13x19in.
Color copier: 13x19in.
Black and white copier: 12x18in.
Wide format: 44in. x however long you need
Laminator: 36in. x however long you need
Laser engraver: 24x18in.
Booklet maker: 12x18in
Q- Ream of paper?
A- 500 sheets of plain paper
250 sheets of heavy card stock
Q- What days do you do delivery?
A- Deliveries are made by our student worker. Days of delivery will be made around the students work schedule. Printing can always be picked up in the basement, room B7 of the Administration Building.
Q- Why do I need to score my job?
A- A score helps to keep a thicker paper from splitting at the fold
Q- What is a perf?
A- A perf is an abbreviation for Perforation or the process of putting small cuts in the paper to aid in tearing.
Q- Can you number my tickets/job?
Q- What programs do you use?
A- Adobe Creative Cloud 2016, Corel Draw, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
Q- I'm a student do I have to pay?
Q- I'm tax exempt what do you need from me?
A- We need a copy of your tax exemption letter for our records
Q- Why can’t I use ASAP as my date need
A- ASAP doesn't give us enough information to schedule jobs effectively. Please remember that printing services takes care of the entire campus and must constantly adjust our production schedules to best meet everyone’s needs.
Q- I need my job done today can that happen?
A- Depending on work load and requirements of the job, it could be possible please call x2459 to discuss your needs.
Q- What other kind of printing can you do?
A- We can print a wide range of items; Wedding, birthday, and party invitations, baby announcements, posters, brochures, envelopes, tickets, letters, reports, and programs to name a few. You can bring in a file or we can set your item up for a small fee. It's best to have an idea of what you're looking for so we can give you an accurate cost on your printing.
