Academic Advising Center

Mission Statement

The Academic Advising Center helps prepare students for success in scholastic, personal, and professional life in the academic setting by positioning students to define and achieve their academic goals.

To accomplish this mission, Academic Advising Center staff will:

  • Build collaborative relationships with students,
  • Provide timely and accurate information about academic programs,
  • Make appropriate referrals to campus resources,
  • Emphasize the idea that “ultimate responsibility for making decisions about educational plans and life goals rests with the individual student.” (NACADA, 2003)

About

Welcome to Cameron University’s Academic Advising Center, a central location for academic information and resources for students. We provide academic advising services to concurrently enrolled high school students and to new Cameron University students enrolling for their first semester. We are committed to providing timely and accurate advice for students so they succeed academically.

Concurrently enrolled high school students will advise through the Advising Center every semester throughout their concurrent enrollment experience. New freshman or transfer students will meet with one of our advising staff for an initial enrollment.  After the initial enrollment, students will transition either to an academic department or to the Student Enrichment Center if they do not yet have a declared major.
